Climate Farmers supports farmers in their transition towards regenerative agriculture, identifies regenerative farmers all over Europe, monitors their ecosystem services, and enables private people and companies to pay the farmers for the services that they are providing for all of us.
Climate Farmers emerged with a simple yet bold idea: To build the infrastructure to scale regenerative agriculture in Europe. The unparalleled potential of regenerative agriculture to store carbon in the ground and restore healthy ecosystems, all while improving the livelihood of farmers.
Its mission is to build the necessary infrastructure to scale regenerative agriculture in Europe by identifying regenerative farmers across Europe and support them in their important work to rebuild natural ecosystems and reverse climate change. To do so, Climate Farmers has developed a three-pronged approach to facilitate this transition through:
- Gathering all available information on regenerative agriculture via an open community, the Climate Farmers Academy. Experts review, qualify and make the information about regenerative agriculture available for farmers in the form of best practices.
- Measuring regenerative agriculture by making the results of regenerative agriculture measurable and accessible. Monitoring enables farmers and third-party stakeholders to assess the positive outcomes for soils, ecosystems, and climate. The Climate Farmers Pioneer Program is a 14-week immersive training program for farmers to successfully transition to the regenerative management of their farms. The farmer will receive training on farm design, big-picture decision making, financial management, and monitoring.
- Developing financial instruments to enable more farmers to take the step into regenerative agriculture. The Carbon+ Credits program supports farmers in financing their transition to regenerative agriculture by covering investment costs at the beginning of their project by measuring the changes in ecosystem health.
Climate Farmers calls themselves “Visionary adventurers on a mission to scale regenerative agriculture.
